How to Read and Use a Pattern Properly

Our patterns class, formally known as the "How to Read and Use a Pattern Properly" class, is open for anyone who already knows how to sew and is ready to begin working on projects or needs a refresher course on using patterns.

*This class is not recommended for non-sewers.

 

During this class we will equip you with all the knowledge you need to successfully use a pattern. 

 

In this class you'll learn

  • How to pick out a pattern 
  • What the differences are between pattern brands
  • How to properly take yours (or someone else's) measurements
  • How to apply your measurements to a pattern ensuring a great fit
  • How to use the suggested pattern layout or "roadmap"
  • How to decipher the instructions
  • Learn common terminology used in patterns
  • How to place pattern pieces "On Grain"
  • What the markings and indicators on pattern pieces mean
  • How to pin patterns properly
  • How to mark patterns properly
  • How to lengthen or shorten pattern pieces

 

We know that in this class we go over tons of information, that's why you'll be taking home with you a couple of handouts going over all the material that is covered.
